Description: Public institutions operated by the state which provide intensive training and supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities (or a developmental disability and one or more secondary impairments) who have serious medical problems, severe behavior challenges or other needs that currently cannot be met by available community resources. Residents are referred by an appropriate agency, and receive a full range of residential, educational, medical, mental health, behavior management and other supportive services to help them develop the personal, social, vocational and recreational skills they need.
