Melissa Jackson is a Parent Consultant at the Ohio Department of Health in the Maternal, Child, and Family Health Bureau. Melissa enjoys bringing the family perspective and voice to the bureau's 40+ programs and numerous Title V block grant groups. She also finds great strength and comfort in leading the state’s work in childhood cancer, as she is the mother of a little one with pediatric cancer. Outside of her work with ODH, Melissa is the founder and director of the 501c3 nonprofit, Feel Better Foundation. Feel Better Foundation serves children with life-threatening diseases, conditions, and cancers, as well as their family's emotional health. The nonprofit grants legacies (or giveback projects), but also includes no-cost therapy, support groups, and programming for families through its subsidiaries: Feel Better Mom, Feel Better Dad, and Non-Profits United.
With a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (specializing in urban education), master’s degree in communications, and a background in nonprofit management, and state service, Melissa loves that she was given the opportunity to combine all of her passions, as well as her lived experience, to support and amplify the voices of families across the state and nation.
