Biosketch:

Kristen L. Carroll, MD, is the chief of staff of Shriners Hospitals for Children—Salt Lake City and pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. She is also professor of orthopaedics at the University of Utah and holds the Sherman S Coleman presidential endowed chair in pediatric orthopedics at the University of Utah.

Dr. Carroll specializes in the areas of pediatric hip and foot abnormalities, both congenital and neuromuscular in origin. Her research interests include neuromuscular and complex hip disorders, skeletal dysplasias, complex foot and ankle deformities, and cerebral palsy. She graduated from Albany Medical School in New York with Alpha Omega Alpha distinction, and completed her orthopaedic residency and fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at Primary Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children—Salt Lake City.

Dr. Carroll has worked at Shriners Hospitals for Children—Salt Lake City for over 20 years. She specializes in caring for children with neuromuscular diseases like cerebral palsy, skeletal dysplasias, osteogenesis imperfecta and developmental dysplasia of the hip. She teaches and does research on these conditions as well, and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics.
