1. Representation in cases seeking public entitlements such as TANF/GA, Social Security, SSI and Unemployment benefits.
2. Representation of clients with landlord/tenant and/or housing disputes. 3. Representation in cases seeking access to health care such as Medicaid, PCN, CHIP, and Hill Burton benefits. 4. Representation in domestic relations matters. 5. Representation in American Indian issues. 6. Representation of migrant farm workers regarding wage and labor issues. 7. Free clinics held statewide that address various legal issues (call to find out times and locations or visit the website - Salt Lake clinics often referred to as the Street Law Project). 8. Utah Medicare Education Team - provides general education as well as individual assistance about ways to avoid and minimize problems with Medicare. Helps Medicare recipients understand Medicare Summary Notices. 9. Bankruptcy Hotline - provides information for low income people filing bankruptcy on their own to guide them through the process...801-374-6766 ext. 3446, Mon. - Fri., 11.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m. 10. Family Law Clinic - Matheson Courthouse, 450 South State Street, W-19 Conference Room A, first and third Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Lawyers are available to advise low income people who are representing themselves in family law matters (divorce, custody, guardianship, grandparents rights, adoption, etc.). |
| Eligibility: | Income must be at or below 125% of the federal poverty level or 60 years of age or older, meet asset guidelines, and have a legal matter within Utah Legal Services' priority areas in the state of Utah. |
