A listing of current Utah social events that include social gatherings, dances, art experiences and sporting events for people
with disabilities.
VSA Arts of Utah
The Utah affiliate of VSA arts, an international, nonprofit organization founded by Jean Kennedy Smith in 1974 as an affiliate
of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Dedicated to promoting artistic excellence and providing educational
opportunities through the arts, VSA arts brings the power of the arts into the lives of over 5.5 million people with disabilities
each year.
Best Buddies Utah
A non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities
for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Best Buddies High Schools pairs students with intellectual disabilities
in one-to-one friendships with high school students. Best Buddies Colleges pairs people with intellectual disabilities in
one-to-one friendships with college students.
Utah Foundation for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Dedicated to serving the blind children, youth, and young adults of Utah. Provide training and instructional programs in areas
such as independent living, athletics, and recreation for the purpose of enhancing the lives and capabilities of those served.
National Ability Center
The National Ability Center, a non-profit organization, offers recreational activities for the family. Integration into the
community through disabled sports is the focus. Located in Park City, Utah, it offers snow skiing, horse back riding, water
skiing, cycling and more.
Salt Lake County Adaptive Recreation
County adaptive recreation programs are designed for individuals with special needs, however, everyone is welcome to participate
in any program or class. This site lists socialization activities, classes, sports, and other adaptive programs in the Salt
Lake Valley.
Religion & Disability Program
This program from the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) urges local congregations, national denominational
groups and seminaries to remove architectural, communication and attitudinal barriers. The program was formerly with the National
Organization on Disability (NOD).
National Organization on Disability
NOD encourages people with disabilities to particpate in all aspects of life and offers a variety of programs related to emergency
preparedness, employment, accessibility, and more.
