- Effectively screen for inborn and acquired conditions
- Appropriately intervene when screening uncovers a problem or risk
- Recognize the populations and identify patients at-risk for preventable conditions
- Initiate and monitor preventive interventions for at-risk patients
- Collaborate with community agencies and other professionals in screening and prevention measures
